Thank you for using this school website to understand more about the work of our school. We are in the process of having a new website designed which will provide valuable information and showcase all of our achievements.
Life at Garboldisham begins with the important task of staff bridging the gap between home/nursery and school. This is initiated by our ability to begin to build essential relationships with the children from the very first meeting. We believe that such relationships allow children to feel safe and secure and to begin to develop independence and self-reliance. We seek to build an environment where every child is nurtured and treated fairly, where they can be open to new experiences. We also believe that this is a time when it is imperative for the children to learn about social interactions with peers, experience conflicts and build friendships. We aim to fully support children in facing these struggles, talking things through and finding resolutions.
Throughout their time in Oak tree class we give our children wide ranging opportunities, believing that first hand experience is the key to building a love of learning. Our children are free to explore and become independent learners, being active, healthy and most of all – happy. We consider the outdoors to be an essential learning space where their play can be child led, they can learn basic skills and resilience, never being afraid to fail and try once again. This also encourages further development of essential motor skills, necessary for improved concentration and fine dexterity.
Every child is encouraged to have a voice, question and share thoughts and opinions, whilst developing a respect for each other and their differences. They will learn early on to celebrate these differences and begin to gain the confidence to become individual thinkers.
